But now it’s time to warn the pickpocketers who steal our phones, be aware of us. We will track you wherever you are. Same goes with the people you have forgotten their mobile somewhere while travelling, it is possible to track it.
If you have lost your phone, it’s not going to be forever and top most stop bursting out your tears.
However, if you want to track your device you need to follow few steps. As we say not to worry, they are not harder ones. It’s just that you need to go to that place where your device is located.
We going to tell you how to lock and locate your lost phone for Android and iPhone. Different operating systems so different steps. Common step would be sign up into your Google or Apple account before you begin.
Locate Your Android Phone using Google android device manager
Good thing about tracking the Android devices is that, there is no altogether a different app for this purpose, though settings should be properly configured.
To check the Settings, open the Google Setting app and click on Security. Make sure ‘Remote locate this device’ and ‘Allow remote lock and erase’ settings are enabled. Location access should also be switched on. Again go to Google Setting app and choose Location. Then click on ‘Google Location History’ and make sure that all the things here are enabled.
Follow the below steps to track your mobile. If you are having any doubts while following the steps, whether it is showing correct status? Simply try by yourself and see location it is showing. Hope you the exact location where you are sitting.
Step 1 : Go to website, www.google.com/android/devicemanager.
Step 2 : Sign-in with your Gmail address and Password.
You will see map and toolbox. Go to the toolbox option.
Step 4 : Your phone name will be visible at the top of the toolbox. If you have more than one Android phone or tablet, you can switch between the devices by clicking on the drop-down menu and selecting the name.
Step 5 : Map will be visible showing the location of your handset.
Step 6 : In Device Manager you will find various option which you might require at this stage. You can make your phone ring, lock out or wipe its content.
Step 7 : Think of worse now either your mobile battery is finished or it is turned off. So please ask the question what’s next? Simple check the location history to find where it was last. For this go to google.com/settings/accounthistory and tap on Manager History.
Specify the time period and it will show you the locations your device has reported its location. If you are lucky you will find your device at the last location it was showing.
Location history uses Wi-Fi and mobile signals rather than GPS. It won’t be that much accurate.

Find My Phone For Windows Phone
In case of Windows it has its own built-in feature.Open the app list and select Settings.Go to Privacy section and find Location and Find my Phone option. There setting should be turn-on by default.
Open ‘Find my Phone’ option and enable ‘Save my phone’s location periodically and before the battery runs out to make it easier to find’.
To find your phone login into your Windows Account at account.microsoft.com/devices and click on ‘Find my Phone’ option. Map will be visible showing the last location of your device. With Android Device Manager, Ring, Lock and Erase options are available here as well.
Track your Lost or Stolen iPhone
To find you iPhone you need Find My iPhone. Again as we said above, if you want to track your device make sure Find My iPhone is already set up in your device. For this go to iCloud and enable the ‘Find My iPhone’. Also enable the ‘Send Last Location’ option, which sends your last known location before handsets battery dies out.
Another criteria is activate the location service for Find My iPhone. For this go to Settings, Privacy and Location Service.
Follow the below steps to locate your iPhone:
Method 1 : Either in another Apple device use the free Find My iPhone app or sign-in into your account on desktop browser at iClod.com and then click on Find My iPhone.
Method 2 : If you have multiple Apple device select the one whom you want to track. Device location will be visible on the map. If device is nearby you can even play the sound to find it.
Method 3 : If not nearby, turn on ‘Lost Mode’ and now you can remotely lock your device with a passcode. It automatically displays the custom message on your phone number about missing your device and will keep the track your device’s Location.
Great feature is, it will suspend the ability to make payment using Apple Pay once device is on Lost Mode.
You can even erase the data remotely avoiding any illegal use of it. For this you need to Erase your device. All the information in the mobile will be deleted, but it do has its own drawback. You won’t be able to detect the phone further. Activation lock will be turned on, letting the person to use the device.
Note: Major question if the device is Offline? You can still put the device in Lock Mode, Lock it and Erase it remotely. Once device is online all the actions will be executed.
To turn off the Lost Mode simply enter the passcode you set earlier.

If you didn’t turn on Find My iPhone option and before only it was stolen what can we do? Though you can’t locate the device, however you can use below steps to protect your data:
- Change your Apple ID password, this will let anyone from accessing your iCloud data or any other service.
- Change password of other internet accounts that were mapped up with your device.
- Report the theft to law. As through Serial Number they use, there is a hope that device could be tracked.
- Report about the loss to wireless carrier. Carrier will disable the account, preventing phones calls, messages and data use.
